A Message To Administrators

Research and news concur that there is a huge need to support students who are challenged when trying to meet the requirements needed for proficient reading and writing. Whatever the causes of these difficulties may be, students need extra time and practice to assimilate the skills and strategies, both through explicit instruction, and in applying them to real life situations. It is often hard work and frustrating for them, especially when they see their peers progressing.
I can help. Besides the fact that I am highly qualified and trained as a Reading Specialist, Dyslexia Specialist and Special Educator, I am someone who has experience with the frustration and low self-esteem that develops in a child who experiences what is perceived as “failure.” I am passionate about trying to stop that cycle of mind-set early in a person’s academic life, so that the gaps in skills diminish, and the child has the opportunity to develop a strong sense of his or herself as a learner who can use this knowledge to be part of an ever changing world.

As you come across these students please consider me as a private tutor because:
I can work with families.
I am a life-long learner myself and continue to explore the science of the brain.
I am a Dyslexia Specialist, a Reading Specialist, an Early Childhood, Early Literacy Specialist, and have 30+ years of experience working with students who often need a different approach to learning.
I understand the “education system” with its many complexities, pressures and perspectives.

I look forward to working with you soon! -Rachel
